Characteristics

Perennial herb, 0.25-1.20 m high. Leaves cauline, with woolly bases, elliptical, ovate or obovate, 725 x 150 mm, glabrous; petioles flattened, up to 400 mm long. Inflorescences in spikes up to 0.50 mm long; one scape per rosette, up to 1.12 mm long; bracts glabrous, apex acute. Calyx lobes elliptical, ± 2.5 x 1.0 mm, winged acute. Corolla lobes deltoid, ± 2.0 x 1.2 mm, acute. Flowering time Oct.-Feb. Fruit an ellipsoid capsule, ± 3.0 x 1.5 mm. Seeds rounded-tetrahedral, 2-4 per capsule, black to dark brown, 2 x 0.8 mm, hilum scar at apex small.
