Characteristics

Climbing shrub. Branchlets striate, tomentose, soon glabrescent. Petiole ca. 1 cm long, densely tomentose; blades subcoriaceous, elliptic-oblong to ovate-oblong, 8-16 x 3-6 cm, margins entire, slightly revolute, apex acuminate, base broadly rounded or subcordate, glabrous above except for the primary vein, tomentose beneath; primary vein impressed above, strongly prominent beneath, secondary veins 8-9 on each side, slightly impressed above, prominent beneath, densely reticulate. Inflorescence axillary, loosely paniculate, 5-15 cm long, branches tomentose; bracts minute, densely tomentose; pedicels 2-3 mm long. Flowers single or in clusters of 2-6; calyx ca. 1 mm high, lobes triangular; petals oblong to lanceolate, 2-2.5 x 0.7-1 mm, midrib slightly prominent; stamens 5, filaments elongating to ca. 2 mm at anthesis, anthers oblong, ca. 1 mm long, dorso-basifixed; ovary hirsute, ovoid, ca. 0.7 mm long, style glabrous, ca. 0.5 mm long, stigma minute. Mature fruit unknown.
