Spikelets purple when old, never viviparous; rachilla glabrous; lemma laterally elliptic-oblong, keel and marginal veins proximally villous, areas between veins proximally densely shortly pubescent, apex obtuse; callus sparsely webbed or sometimes glabrous. 2n = 28.
