Characteristics

Stoloniferous perennial, trailing to scandent or sometimes caespitose. Culms to c. 50 cm high; mid-culm internodes glabrous; nodes often concealed by sheaths. Young shoots extravaginal at base or intravaginal from aerial nodes. Leaves: basal sheaths with margins connate in lower 1/3, glabrous; ligule 0.2–0.4 mm long, truncate, apically ciliolate, abaxially hairy; blade flat or loosely involute, 6–15 cm long, 1–2 mm wide, firm, adaxially scabrous to puberulous, abaxially glabrous. Panicles open, 5–13.5 cm long. Spikelets 2.9–4.3 mm long, with (2–) 3 or 4 (–5) bisexual florets. Glumes: lower glume 2–2.3 mm long, 1 (–3)-nerved; upper glume 2.1–2.6 mm long, 3-nerved. Web absent or weakly developed. Lemma 2.2–2.6 mm long, 5-nerved, with nerves glabrous or midnerve and marginal nerves villous in lower 1/3; intercostal regions glabrous or rarely sparsely puberulous. Anthers 1.6 mm long.
