Perennial 100-410 mm high, mat-forming; rhizomatous and stoloniferous. Leaf blade 10-30 x 1.5-2.0 mm; sheath loose and overlapping. Inflorescence oblong. Spikelet 3.5-4.5 mm long, dorsiventrally compressed, disarticulating above glumes; glumes unequal, with a single thick central nerve, awnless; lemma subcoriaceous, acute, awnless; callus short, obtuse; anther 2.5-3.0 mm long.
