Characteristics

Woody at base, glabrous or sometimes slightly hairy, villous, decumbent dwarf shrub, 0.15-0.80 m high. Leaves alternate, lanceolate to elliptic, margins sometimes slightly thickened or revolute. Flowers many in terminal racemes, papilionaceous, magenta or rarely white, pink or purple; side petals unequally bilobed, lower lobe longest; floral bracts prominent. Flowering time Sept.-Apr. Fruit a membranous capsule, obovate, with a marginal rim. Seed broadly ellipsoid, hairy.
