Much like no. 16 [Polygala cruciata L.], the stems more slender, with longer branches; racemes elevated on a distinct peduncle, the one terminating the main axis usually 1–3 cm; fls pale rose-purple; wings ovate, 3–3.5 × 1.5–2.5 mm, minutely apiculate or obtuse. Sandy swamps on the coastal plain; N.J. to Fla. and Miss. July–Sept.
