Perennial, dwarf shrub or herb, 0.1-0.3 m high. Leaves ovate-lanceolate to ovate-elliptic, rarely suborbicular, slightly cuneate and rounded at base. Flowers in terminal, lax racemes, 40-120 mm long; wings elliptic to obovate, 4-5 x 2.5-3.0 mm. Flowering time Oct.-Apr. Fruit a membranous capsule, ± winged, wing 0.25-0.40 mm wide.
Densely leafy, softly hairy subshrub to 30 cm, stems slender, sprawling or ascending. Leaves ascending, imbricate, broadly ovate to elliptic. Flowers many in congested, terminal racemes, purple, side petals entire, spathulate.
