Characteristics

Flowers mauve or lilac (usually drying yellowish-white), pedicels 0.5–1 mm. long, in elongated, terminal racemes up to 12 cm. long with crisped-pubescent or almost glabrous rhachis and caducous bracts 1.8 mm. long and bracteoles 1 mm. long.

Posterior sepal 2 x 0.8 mm.; wing sepals 3 x 1.2 mm., obliquely, narrowly obovate, marginally ciliolate; anterior sepals 1–1.2 mm. long, free.
Seed 1.5 x 0.6 mm., cylindric, with very short appressed hairs; caruncle c. 0.3 mm. long with very short appendages.
Leaves 7–30 x 1–3 mm., linear to lorate or linear-elliptic, sparsely pubescent or glabrous, mucronate at the apex.
Upper petals 1 x 0.8 mm., irregularly and obliquely oblong-ovate; carina 1.8 x 0.8 mm., crest 0.8 mm. long.
Annual herb up to 40 cm. tall usually branched from near the base with slender crisped-pubescent stems.
Capsule 2 x 1.2 mm., obovate-oblong in outline, margin very narrowly winged.
