Characteristics

Perennial, slender, crisped-pubescent and sparsely pilose herb, 0.1-0.3 m high. Leaves ovate to suborbicular, or elliptic to broadly elliptic, obtuse to rounded at apex. Flowers purple or pink, in terminal racemes with some additional pseudolateral racemes, sometimes streaked with yellow; bracts and bracteoles persistent. Flowering time Oct.-Jan. Fruit a membranous capsule, suborbicular, narrowly winged. Seed with pilose caruncle, membranous appendage of caruncle exceptionally developed (ascending and descending), covering caruncle.
