Characteristics

Flowers yellowish, pink or blue, pedicels 1.5 mm. long, in terminal racemes 4–15 cm. long with glabrous rhachis, caducous bracts 1 mm. long and bracteoles 0.5 mm. long.

Posterior sepal 3 mm. long; wing sepals 5–6 x 3–3.5 mm., oblong-elliptic, glabrous; anterior sepals 2 mm. long, free.
Seed 1.5–1.6 x 0.8–0.9 mm., cylindric, with white, silky hairs; caruncular appendages scarcely developed.
Annual herb 40–60 cm. tall with very slender, crisped-pubescent, pilose or nearly glabrous stems.
Upper petals 5–6 x 2.5 mm., obliquely oblong; carina 3.5 mm. long, crest 5 mm. long.
Capsule 3 x 2 mm., obovate in outline, marginal wing very narrow, sparsely ciliate.
