Flowers zygomorphic, 5-merous, the buds curved, the calyx 5-lobed, the lobes somewhat imbricate, auriculate at the base, glandular on the back; corolla infundibuliform or hippocrateriform, the tube elongate, glandular papillose outside, the lobes unequal, ascending, spreading or reflexed, imbricate; stamens unequal, inserted at the mouth, the anthers slender, apiculate, sagittate at the base; ovary 2-celled or incompletely 1-celled, the ovules numerous, the style elongate. Fruits baccoid, 2-celled; seeds numerous, large, embedded in a gelatinous pulp.
