Leaves crowded at branch tips, a few scattered; incurved, oblong or obovate, subacute to apiculate, slightly narrowed at base, margins in upper half forming a pale, membranous border. Inflorescences glomerulate cymes; peduncles up to 50 mm long. Flowers crowded, pedicellate, small. Perianth segments obtuse, incurved, ± cucullate, bulged on back. Style 4-or 5-fid at top. Stigmas small, knob-like. Flowering time Oct.-Mar. Fruit a chartaceous, loculicidal capsule; 1 ovule per locule. Seeds brown, finely punctate.
