Characteristics

Shrub, 0.5–2 m high, densely branched; stems with white puberulence, older stems dark purplish grey; may flower with very young leaves.. Leaves grey-green or glaucous green, alternate, usually densely set on short-shoots, petiole 2–8 mm long, puberulous, blade ovate, obovate or orbicular, 0.5–1.8 cm long, 0.3–1.8 cm wide, base cuneate to attenuate, margins entire, apex rounded, retuse or acute, densely puberulous to tomentellous especially on the abaxial surface.. Capitula strongly vanilla-scented, 5–7 mm long, solitary and terminal or several together in a terminal corymb; stalks of individual capitula 4–12 mm long, puberulous; phyllaries green, with the outermost shorter and wider, ovate to lanceolate, 1.5–3.5 mm long, 0.8–1.5 mm wide, acute or obtuse, the outer white-pubescent, the inner glabrous; receptacle convex to toroid, slightly toothed.. Marginal florets in one row, ± 12, cream or white, with tube 1.8–2.5 mm long, ray 2.7–3.3 mm long and 0.4–0.9 mm wide, notched or briefly 3-dentate at apex; style 3.1–4.3 mm long with short branches; disc florets pale yellow, 5–7, tube 2.8–3.2 mm long, lobes 0.6–1 mm long and slightly pubescent; anthers 1.3–1.6 mm long with narrowly triangular appendages; style 4.7–5 mm long, with papillate branches.. Achenes cylindrical, 1–1.9 mm long, pubescent; pappus of white barbellate setae 3–5 mm long.
