Origin: in Homestead, Fla., by George D. Ruehle, Univ. of Florida, Subtropical Expt. Sta. Introd. in 1946. Open-pollinated seedling of P.I. 81849; selected in 1944. Tree: vigor medium; productive; tolerant to algal spotting. Fruit: large; flesh red, sweet, thick, mild, quality good; seeds few; ascorbic acid averages 180 mg/100 g fresh fruit; total sugars average 9% to 10%.
