Culms 7–45 cm high. Leaves: basal sheaths membranous; ligule 0.2 mm long; blade joining sheath abruptly, filiform, 1.5–6.5 cm long, 0.3–0.4 mm wide, hooded. Spikes with rachis internodes much longer than spikelets, 11–35 cm long, straight or curved. Bisexual spikelets 3.4–6.8 mm long; rachilla elongated between all florets; lower glume 0.4 mm long; upper glume 0.9 mm long; basal lemma 3.5–5 mm long, acute or 2-lobed; lemma awn, 2.3–7 mm long, apical or subapical, straight. Anthers 0.4–2.2 mm long
