Pterostylis alata Rchb.F.

Rosette leaves 3–11, ovate, dark green, 4–20 × 3–12 mm, margins crinkled. Flower stem 80–250 mm tall with 3–5 stem leaves 10–40 × 3–5 mm. Flower erect, 17–22 × 5–7 mm, dark green and white, apically brownish, hood short, curved. Dorsal sepal tip narrowly tapered, 2–5 mm long. Sinus shallowly curved in side view, broadly notched in front view. Free points filiform, 23–27 mm long, tips curved forwards. Labellum curved, green to brown, protruding high above sinus when set, 10–12 × 3.5 mm, narrowed near apex, bluntly pointed.

Relatively widespread in coastal and hinterland areas; found growing in shrubby forest, heathy forest and heath in freely draining to moisture retentive sand and loam.
