Characteristics

Rosette leaves 4–9, elliptic, 15–25 x 6–12mm. Flower stem 100–200mm, 2–  across, 2–7-flowered. Sterile bracts 3–4. Flowers porrect to obliquely erect, 17–20 x 5–7mm, translucent white with brown or red-brown stripes and markings, lateral sepals sometimes wholly brown, shiny, glabrous. Dorsal sepal point thickly filamentous, 3–  long, usually decurved. Lateral sepals about as wide as hood or narrower, concave, margins glabrous; free points thickly filamentous, 5–  long, stiff, projecting forwards or hooked upwards. Petals with very large basal flanges. Labellum oblong, 4–4.5 x 2mm, brown, thick, fleshy, broadly channelled; margins with 8–12 bristles to   long; base thick, with several bristles to 1.  long.
