Characteristics

Rosette leaves 5–8, broadly elliptic, 20–45 x 10–25mm, greyish-green, fleshy, dull, margins entire. Flower stem 100–25  tall, 4–  across, thick, fleshy, 5–18-flowered. Sterile bracts 4–6. Flowers crowded, bluish-green and white with prominent darker green stripes, 9–11 x 5–5.5mm. Lateral sepals shallowly pouched, 6–7.5 x 6–  when flattened. Petals 7–8 x 3.5–4.5mm, translucent with darker veins, margins irregular. Labellum elliptic, 2.3–2.7 x 2.2–2.5mm, whitish-green with dark green appendage c.1.5 x 1.2mm, with thickened dark green margins and prominent blunt beak 2–  long.

Environment

Locally common in subalpine and alpine areas, growing among grass tussocks, herbs and sedges in subalpine grasslands and herbfields in well-drained to seasonally moist well-structured brown to black loam; occasionally among grass on sheltered slopes in snowgum woodland in brown stony loam.
