Characteristics

Rosette stalk 10–2  long; leaves 5–7, 8–18 x 6–12mm. Flower stem 200–40  tall; stem leaves 8–18, 35–60 x 8–14mm. Flowers 3–15, densely crowded, semi-nodding, 20–25 x 16–20mm, dark reddish-brown to chocolate-brown with translucent areas, rarely greenish to greenish-brown. Dorsal sepal 14–1  long; apical point c.1mm, long. Lateral sepals 15–18 x 16–20mm, joined for most of their length, flat or shallowly convex; free points c.  long, triangular. Petals 10–13 x 5mm, translucent with dark lines. Labellum 6–7 x 3–3.5mm, dark reddish-black, hairy; basal appendage c.  long; apex notched. Column 13–1  long.
