Characteristics

Rosette leaves 5–10, ovate, 60–150 x 3–8mm, dull green to pale green, margins irregular to crinkled. Flower stem 60–15  tall, with 3–6 spreading stem leaves to 30 x 5mm. Flower erect, 25–30 x 9–11mm, translucent white with bright red stripes and markings. Dorsal sepal tip tapered, 1–  long. Sinus bulging in side view, flat in front view. Free points filiform, 25–3  long, erect or tips curved forwards. Labellum curved, protruding prominently from sinus when set, 16–20 x 3.5–4mm, dark red-brown, thick, fleshy, apex scabrous.

Widespread and often locally common from coast to inland areas, growing in coastal scrub and shrubland on stabilised calcareous dunes and calcareous sands near coast; also further inland in open forest, mallee communities and broombush in red loam over sheet limestone.
