Rosette leaves 5–8, oblong to ovate, 7–25 x 4–10mm. Flower stem 50–15 tall, 1–1. across, 2–6-flowered. Stem bracts 2–4. Flowers porrect to semi-nodding, hairy, 27–30 x 9–12mm, translucent white with brown bands in galea, lateral sepals light brown to dark brown with chequered patterns. Dorsal sepal point filamentous, 3– long, porrect to upcurved. Lateral sepals deflexed, wider than hood, usually concave, margins incurved, sparsely hairy; free points filamentous, 9–1 long, divergent, curved forwards or outwards. Petals with very small basal flanges, 9–12 x 4.5–5mm. Labellum oblong, 4–5 x 1.5–2mm, brown, thick, fleshy, broadly channelled, hairy; margins with 6–10 white bristles to 2. long; basal lobe as wide as blade, glabrous or with few short bristles.
Localised, although sometimes locally common, growing in woodland dominated by native pines with an open grassy understorey in freely draining white sand over limestone.
