Rosette leaves 6–15, elliptical to obovate, 5–35 x 4–15 mm. Flower stem 100–20 tall, 2–2. across, 1–6-flowered. Sterile bracts 2–4. Flowers erect to semi-erect, 40–50 x 8–10mm, translucent white with green to brown stripes and markings. Dorsal sepal point filamentous, 14–2 long, straight or decurved. Lateral sepals often only partly deflexed, slightly narrower than hood, 8–12 x 7–8mm, flat, upper margins ranging from curved to nearly square, outer margins flat with short hairs; free points filamentous, 12–2 long, divergent. Petals with small basal flanges, 12–15 x 3–4.5mm. Labellum obovate-spathulate, 5.5–6.5 x 2.6–3 mm, dark brown, thick, shallowly concave, strongly constricted near base; marginal bristles 10–16, to long; basal lobe small, with 2–4 projecting bristles c.1. long.
Localised, frequently growing on winter-wet flats under York gum in heavy silty or clay loam that becomes spewy when wet and sets like concrete when dry; less commonly in shrubby vegetation near salt lakes and on ironstone breakaways and jump-ups.
