Rosette leaves c.6, oblong to elliptic, 10–15 x 5–10mm. Flower stem 100–18 tall, c. thick, 1–6-flowered. Sterile bracts 3. Flowers porrect, 17–20 x 6–7mm, hood translucent white with red-brown lines and bands, lateral sepals and petals wholly red-brown. Dorsal sepal point acuminate, c. long, upcurved. Lateral sepals deflexed, slightly wider than galea, nearly flat or slightly concave; margins flat, glabrous; free points curved forwards, tapered, 3– long, widely divergent. Petals with large red basal flanges blocking off base of opening, 9–10 x 3.3mm. Labellum oblong-spathulate, c.3.6 x 2mm, narrowed to base, narrowly channelled, dark red-brown, covered with siliceous cells, margins ciliate; marginal bristles 8–14, to c.2. long; basal lobe about as wide as lamina, sloping backwards, with numerous short white bristles.
