Characteristics

Rosette stalk 20–10  long; leaves 3–6, 13–50 x 4–11mm. Flower stem 100–80  tall; stem leaves 5–7, 10–80 x 3–10mm. Flowers 1–20, widely spaced, often semi-nodding, 13–16 x 6–8mm, dark translucent green with indistinct darker green stripes, shiny. Dorsal sepal tip bright orange-brown. Lateral sepals about as wide as galea, 11–13 x 6–8mm, margins curved, tips brown to orange-brown. Petals with narrow elongate basal flanges, 12–14 x 3.5–4mm, outer margin shallowly curved. Labellum 5–6.5 x c.2.5mm, oblong, tawny or brown with dark brown to blackish basal mound and central stripe; surface cells mixture of bead-like cells and hair-like cells; midlobe long.

Environment

Locally common in montane to highland areas, growing among shrubs and tussocks on slopes and ridges in wet sclerophyll forest and tall moist to wet montane forest in well-structured clay loam; also drier forests in rainshadow areas in freely draining gravelly soil and shale.
