Rosette stalk 5–10 long; leaves 3–6, 10–50 x 4–8mm. Flower stem 150–80 tall; stem leaves 5–7, 25–80 x 5–10mm, tip often brownish. Flowers 1–20, 12–15 x 5.5–7mm, pale translucent green with indistinct darker green stripes, shiny. Dorsal sepal tip green to brown. Lateral sepals about as wide as galea, 9–12 x 5.5–7mm, margins curved, tips green to brown. Petals without basal flanges, 10–13 x 2.5–3mm, outer margin nearly straight. Labellum 5–6 x 2–2.5mm, oblong, tawny, brownish, cream or yellowish with dark brown to black basal mound and central stripe; surface cells mostly bead-like, some longer hair-like cells at base.
Widespread and common from coast to mountains and tablelands, growing in moist to wet sclerophyll forests, sheltered humid areas of open forest, teatree scrub, coastal scrub and occasionally heath in range of soils including sandy loam, clay loam and well-structured mountain soils. Sometimes seen growing in accumulations of forest litter and contrastingly on bare rocky outcrops in shallow soil. In dense forests it grows in clearings and on track margins, including animal pads.
