Rosette leaves 3–11, ovate, 5–16 x 5–8mm, mid green to bluish, margins entire. Flower stem 100–35 tall, thin, wiry, 2–6-flowered. Flowers widely spaced, 1–3 open at once, externally scabrous, 9–10 x 4–5mm, base green and white, rest dark chocolate-brown. Dorsal sepal about as long as petals, both scabrous. Synsepalum flattish in side view, sharply stepped in at top; frontal opening shallowly and broadly notched. Free points narrowly tapered, c. long, not exceeding top of hood. Labellum not visible through sinus in any position, diamond-shaped, 3.5–4 x 1.5mm, dark brown and white, blunt.
Locally common in coastal and near-coastal districts, growing in shrubby forest, scrub and heathland in freely draining grey to white sand.
