Rosette leaves 4–6, ovate to oblong, 15–45 x 5–20mm, dull green, margins entire. Flower stem 100–25 tall. Flower semi-nodding, 25–30 x 10–13mm, white, green and brown (sometimes with reddish suffusions). Dorsal sepal longer than petals, apex tapered, 2– long. Sinus nearly flat in side view, broadly U-shaped in front view. Free points filiform, 22–3 long, erect. Petals shortly pointed. Labellum strongly curved, protruding prominently from sinus when set, 13–16 x 3mm, apex deeply notched, points nearly parallel.
Widespread and common from coast to ranges and tablelands, growing in coastal scrub and littoral rainforest in freely draining sands; further inland on sheltered slopes and moist flats in shrubby forest, open forest and woodland in clay loams and loams. Var.: Plants in mountainous areas of SE Qld have stiffly erect flowers that are mostly green and white. Plants from New Caledonia have strongly crinkled leaf margins.
