Characteristics

Rosette leaves 5–9, elliptical to obovate, 5–16 x 3–8mm. Flower stem 30–15  tall, 0.5–  thick, 1–7-flowered. Sterile bracts 2–3. Flowers porrect, 13–15 x 4–4.5mm, translucent white with prominent red-brown lines and bands. Dorsal sepal point acuminate, 1.5–2.  long. Lateral sepals sometimes only partially deflexed, narrower than hood, shallowly concave, 5.5–7 x 4–  wide when flattened, margins strongly infolded beneath labellum; free points tapered, 2–  long, divergent, curved forwards. Petals with large basal flanges which meet and block off base of opening, 6–8 x 2.5–  wide. Labellum oblong, 2.5–3 x 0.8–  wide, dark red-brown, flat, margins with numerous short hairs, shallowly constricted near junction with basal lobe; basal lobe wider and thicker than blade, with numerous very short hairs; marginal bristles absent.
