Characteristics

Rosette leaves 5–10, elliptic, 10–30 x 7–13mm. Flower stem 80–25  tall, 2–  across, 3–15-flowered. Stem bracts 3–4. Flowers semi-nodding, held horizontally on long stalks, 16–20 x 5–6mm, bright reddish-brown with translucent white areas. Dorsal sepal point acuminate, 2–  long. Lateral sepals as wide as hood, shallowly concave, margins incurved, glabrous, gradually tapered into free points; free points 5–  long, thick, divergent. Petals with large basal flanges blocking off base of opening, 12–13 x 3.5–4mm. Labellum oblong, 3.5–4.5 x 2–2.5mm, fleshy, dark red-brown, apex truncate or notched; margins with 8–16 white bristles 0.5–1.  long; basal lobe thick, slightly wider than blade, with numerous very short hairs and bristles.
