Rosette leaves 6–10, elliptic, 20–40 x 6–12mm, margins ciliate. Flower stem 150–30 tall, 2– across, 4–10-flowered. Flowers obliquely erect on long stalks, translucent white with green or light brown markings, hairy. Dorsal sepal point filamentous, 4– long, upcurved. Lateral sepals much wider than hood, flat to shallowly concave, margins flat, with numerous white bristles; free points filamentous, 7–1 long, incurved or often hooked forwards, divergent. Labellum prominently thrust forward and fully exposed, 4–4.5 x 2–2.5mm, narrowly and deeply grooved; margins with 15–30 spreading white or yellowish bristles to 4. long; basal lobe with dense tuft of prominent white bristles to 1. long.
Widespread but localised, growing in drier ironbark and box forests with sparse understorey in stony loam or clay loam; also mallee communities in sandy soil, less commonly in swales on old consolidated dunes under native pines.
