Rosette leaves 4–6, oblong to ovate, 13–60 x 9–20mm, green, margins crinkled. Flower stem 100–30 tall, thin, wiry, smooth. Flower erect, 20–25 x 10–12mm, translucent white with green lines, apex light reddish-brown. Dorsal sepal of similar length to petals, sharply pointed. Lateral sepals loosely embracing galea and separated from petals by wide side gap. Sinus shallowly bulging in side view, broadly and deeply notched in front view. Free points tapered, 12–1 long, widely divergent, slightly recurved. Petals shortly pointed. Labellum abruptly curved near middle, protruding prominently from sinus when set, 14–16 x 4mm, widest near middle then tapered, dark reddish-brown, margins scabrous, apex blunt.
Scattered but locally common in high ranges and tablelands, growing among shrubs, grass and tussocks on sheltered slopes and gullies in humid open forest and on margins of rainforest in gravelly loam and clay loam.
