Characteristics

Rosette leaves 3–6, ovate, 10–25 x 5–15mm, bluish-green, margins entire. Flower stem 50–15  tall, thin, wiry. Flower strongly nodding, 25–30 x 10–13mm, dark red to reddish-brown and white. Dorsal sepal longer than petals, apex tapered, 3–  long. Sinus flat in side view, narrowly U-shaped in front view. Free points filamentous, 15–2  long, very thin, extended forwards like horns of bull. Labellum strongly curved, protruding prominently from sinus when set, 7–9 x 2–2.5mm, strongly curved, bright red-brown, deeply notched, points nearly parallel.

Environment

Locally common in foothills, ranges and tablelands, growing among rocks, shrubs and coarse tussocks on sheltered slopes and flats in open forest and under sheoaks in freely draining gravelly loam; also on edges of small gullies and ephemeral streams that flow in wet season.
