Rosette stalk 20–65 mm long; leaves 3–5, 7–35 × 4–10 mm. Flower stem 150–600 mm tall; stem leaves 4–7, 20–80 × 4–9 mm. Flowers 1–6, 14–17 × 7–9 mm, green with dark green stripes. Dorsal sepal tip orange-brown. Lateral sepals 13–15 × 7–9 mm, widest towards base, margins curved, tips orange-brown. Petals without basal flanges inside opening, 13–15 × 3–4 mm. Labellum 6–7 × 2.3–3 mm, slightly wider towards apex, light brown to brown with darker brown stripe; most cells short and bead-like, some hair-like cells in basal group.
Fairly widely distributed, but disjunct and localised; found growing among scattered shrubs and tussocks on slopes, ridges and gullies in drier forests in freely draining gravelly, stony or clay soils. Often found in drier rain-shadow areas. Frequently colonises embankments and track verges.
