Rosette leaves 5–10, elliptic, 15–35 x 9–13mm. Flower stem 120–20 tall, 2– across, 1–8-flowered. Sterile bracts 2–3. Flowers porrect to semi-nodding, 25–30 x 9–11mm, translucent white heavily marked with green or red-brown, lateral sepals sometimes blackish (occasionally flowers nearly wholly green). Dorsal sepal point filamentous, 6–1 long, porrect or curved. Lateral sepals wider than hood, shallowly concave, margins incurved, hairy; free points thickly filamentous, 20–2 long, decurved, widely divergent to outcurved, sometimes tips hooked. Petals with small basal flanges, 10–12 x 3–4mm, Labellum broadly obovate, 4–4.5 x 2–2.5mm, narrowed to base, base thick, apex thin; margins with 8–12 forward-pointing bristles 1– long; basal lobe thick, glabrous.
Relatively widespread but highly localised, growing among sparse scrub on and around rocky outcrops in thin stony soil and around shrubs and porcupine grass in adjacent mallee and broombush communities in sand; also recorded growing on consolidated dunes in red sand.
