Characteristics

Terrestrial tuberous orchids growing in loose to crowded, clonal colonies. Leaves 1–3, basal, ground-hugging, leathery, fleshy, margins flat. Racemes 1-to few-flowered; peduncle stiff, wiry, 1–3 sterile bracts. Flowers resupinate, dull-coloured. Tepals free, narrow, leathery. Dorsal sepal broader than lateral sepals, closely hooding column. Lateral sepals decurved. Petals spreading. Labellum stiffly attached by its base to column base, remaining flexible. Labellum lamina 3-lobed, curved, striped, externally papillate; lateral lobes narrow, embracing column; midlobe narrow, margins entire, finely toothed or lobed. Callus of a central plate and irregularly arranged small calli. Column slender, curved, narrowly winged, papillate near anther. Pollinia 4, clavate, mealy, no viscidium.
