Characteristics

Spreading or decumbent few-stemmed herb of up to 0.3 m high. Tuber up to 0.10 m diameter, spindle-shaped. Stems up to 0.4 m long, 1-3 mm diameter, puberulous to densely puberulous, branching lateral. Leaves ascending to spreading, petiolate, petiole 3-15 mm long, puberulous; blade folded lengthwise, 15-65 x 2-10 mm, very narrowly to narrowly ovate, above glaucous to greyish-green and puberulous to densely puberulous, beneath pale green and puberulous to sparsely puberulous, veins reddish, secondary veins arching and ±10 to a side, margin thickened, undulate and reddish, apex acute to attenuate. Inflorescences terminal and axillary, many-flowered lax panicles, densely puberulous, peduncles 2-10 mm long, pedicles 2-8 mm long; bracts 1-2 mm long, narrowly triangular to subulate. Sepals 1-2 x 1 mm, broadly ovate to very narrowly ovate, puberulous outside, apex obtuse to acute. Corolla puberulous outside; tube 2-5 mm long, campanulate; lobes spreading, 2-7 x 2 mm, oblong-ovate to narrowly triangular, olive green to yellowish-green, apex obtuse to acute. Coronal feet tri-segmented; central segment 5-10 mm long, filiform with dilated base, deep purple; lateral segments fused to the corolla lobe bases, 1-2 mm long, subulate to deltoid, fleshy, sometimes rudimentary, green. Stamens from inner base of coronal feet; filaments ±1 mm long, filiform; anthers 2-3 mm long, oblong-ovate, white, connective deep green, full length slits, apex obtuse with connective attenuate. Ovaries ±1 mm long; style ±2 mm long, terete, glossy; style-head 2-3 mm long, ovoid, purplish-green, apex obtuse; translators 1.4-1.9 mm long, spoon elliptic. Gynostegium base in corolla mouth. Follicles solitary, 50-80 x 8-15 mm, very narrowly ovoid, puberulous, apex tapering. Seeds 8 x 3 mm, obliquely ovate, coma 20-25 mm long. Flowering occurs from December to March, but mainly in December.
