Small tree or scandent shrub, 1.5–9 m. high; stems and older branches reddish-or greyish-brown, glabrous, with many lenticels; young branches terete or sometimes weakly 4-angled, densely pubescent.. Petiole 0.3–1.3 cm. long, pubescent; leaf-blade obovate or elliptic, 4.5–15 cm. long, 2–7.5 cm. wide, obtuse, acute or shortly acuminate, cuneate, papery to somewhat coriaceous, deep green or yellowish green, greyish pubescent on the nerves above and beneath, and sparsely so on the rest of the blade; margin shallowly crenate-dentate or entire.. Inflorescence-axis and branches densely greyish pubescent.. Flowers fragrant, 2–3 mm. in diameter, 1.5–2 mm. long; pedicels mostly 1–2 mm. long; bracts linear, 1–2 mm. long, greyish pubescent.. Sepals free almost to the base, oblong, 0.5–1.5 mm. long, acute, ciliate, greyish pubescent outside, reddish brown and glabrous within.. Petals greenish yellow or rarely cream, oblong, rounded at apex, 1–2 mm. long, 0.3–0.6 mm. wide, greyish pubescent on outside, glabrous or sparsely pubescent within, margins inrolled..
