Herb, up to 500 mm tall. Leaves pinnatisect. Calyx lobes with broad base and subulate to filiform tip. Corolla with glandular hairs on outside. Capsules straight or oblique, winged at least along upper suture. Flowers white.
Calyx 3.5–9(13) mm. long; tube 0.5–2 mm. long, 1–4 mm. in diam.; lobes ovate at base with revolute margins, 2–5(8) mm. long, filiform.
Leaves (5)10–60( 100) mm. long, pinnatisect or rarely some simple; segments (0)2–7, 2–20(35) mm. long, under 1 mm. wide, filiform.
Capsule (6)7–10(15) mm. long to apex of beak, 4–7 mm. broad, winged along sutures.
Erect much-branched glabrous herb a few inches to 2 ft. high, half-woody below

Bracteoles 1–5(7) mm. long, inserted near midway on pedicel.
Flowers solitary in axils of , or just above, bracts.
