Characteristics

Climbing herb, probably several metres long and possibly woody at the base.. Stems slightly ridged, velvety with short dense pale ferruginous hairs.. Leaflets 3, the terminal one rounded-rhomboid or oblate-rhomboid, the laterals obliquely ovate, 2·7–6 cm. long, 2–5·6 cm. wide, very broadly subacute and mucronulate at the apex, broadly rounded and minutely emarginate at the base, softly velvety on both surfaces with short grey hairs but gland-dots very obscure; petiole 3–7 cm. long; rhachis 1·2–2 cm. long; petiolules 2–3 mm. long; stipules lanceolate, 6–10 mm. long, hairy outside.. Inflorescences axillary; rhachis 7–18 cm. long, with a secondary branch at the base (at the top of the peduncle) supported by a stipule-like bract; peduncle 7–9 cm. long; pedicels 2 mm. long; bracts ovate or ovate-lanceolate, 6–8(–10) mm. long, 3–4 mm. wide, acuminate, pubescent.. Calyx densely hairy but with very few gland-dots; tube 3–4 mm. long; lobes very unequal, the lowest conspicuously the longest, narrowly linear-lanceolate, 1·2–1·4 cm. long, ± 2·5 mm. wide; lateral lobes 9 mm. long, ±1·5 mm. wide; upper pair joined for almost half-way to form a lobe ± 9 mm. long divided into fine linear segments at the apex.. Corolla golden-yellow, marked with brown but drying uniform brown with veins obscure; standard elliptic-obovate, 1·8 cm. long, 1·05 cm. wide, densely pubescent.. Ovary densely long-pilose.. Pods not known.
