Stipules paired subulate. Inflorescence an erect, axillary, dense, many-flowered raceme; flowers congested at end of long peduncle, much longer than leaves. Flowers large, deep yellow, each subtended by a large, reddish, lanceolate bract. Flowering time Oct.-Apr.
