Characteristics

Erect subshrub 0.6-1.5 m tall, with several striate densely appressed velvety buff pubescent stems. Leaves 3-foliolate; leaflets very discolorous; terminal leaflet 3.5-6 x 2.2-4 cm, obovate to elliptic or almost round, rounded to subacute at the apex, minutely apiculate, narrowed to a rounded or subcordate base; laterals 1.7-5 x 0.9-2.5 cm, elliptic-oblong; all appressed pubescent above, the hairs not obscuring the dark surface, densely silvery velvety beneath, the surface entirely hidden; petiole 2-7 mm long; rhachis 8-10 mm long; petiolules 2.5 mm long, very densely pubescent; stipules 3 x 2 mm, narrowly ovate to lanceolate, very deciduous. Inflorescences shorter than the leaves, 2.5-5 cm long, mostly 3-5-flowered but sometimes branched; peduncles 0.4-2.5 cm long; bracts 3-4 x 2 mm, narrowly ovate-oblong, very soon falling; pedicels 4-8 mm long. Calyx pubescent; tube 5 mm long; longest lobe 5 mm long, lanceolate-triangular; laterals 4 mm long, ovate, acuminate; upper pair 5 mm long, joined for three-fifths of their length. Corolla yellow; standard 19 x 15 mm, obovate, densely pubescent outside. Pods 27 x 8.5 mm, oblong, pubescent with short and long grey hairs. Ripe seeds not seen.
