Characteristics

Shrub or small tree to 12 m. tall; branches sparsely pubescent at first.. Leaf-lamina elliptic to elliptic-lanceolate, 3.6–11.4 cm. long, 1.6–4.2 cm. wide, the base cuneate to subrounded, the apex acuminate to caudate, glabrous or with a few hairs on the midrib and lateral veins beneath at first, margin crenate-serrate to ± entire, lateral veins 6–9 pairs; petiole 3–4 mm. long, pubescent.. Inflorescence a few-flowered axillary raceme, or solitary or fascicled; flowers white, fragrant; peduncle very uneven, slender, 2–30 mm. long, finely pubescent; bracts ovate, 1–2 mm. long, falling eventually; pedicels very slender, 4–19 mm. long, finely pubescent.. Sepals oval, 1.5–2 mm. long, ribbed, ciliate.. Petals narrow-oblong, 6.5–8 mm. long, ciliate at the top.. Stamens 2.8–3.25 mm. long, free or fused together at the very base of the filaments; connective-apppendage suborbicular, as long as, but twice as broad as, the anther, margin irregularly dentate; thecal appendages absent..
