Leaves petiolate; lamina (3) 4–7 (9) x 1.5–4 cm., oblong or elliptic, acute or shortly acuminate at the apex, cuneate to rounded at the base, ± acutely serrate, rarely almost entire, subcoriaceous, olive-to greyish-green, glabrous except for the ± hirsute main veins below, with venation prominent on both surfaces; petiole 2–4 mm. long, channelled above, pubescent or rarely glabrous; stipules 3–4 mm. long, triangular-subulate, pubescent, longitudinally ribbed.

Stamens free or filaments sometimes slightly fused together at the base; anthers oblong, almost as long as the filament, with a ± orbicular connective-appendage broader than the anther, not decurrent, and usually 2 thecal appendages or one bifid appendage.
Inflorescence 5–10-flowered, racemose, simple or occasionally with a short branch at the base, single or rarely ± clustered, axillary, elongating before anthesis; peduncle stout, greenish, shortly brownish-pubescent.
Petals 5–7 mm. long, c. 5 times as long as the sepals, cream-or greenish-white, oblong to ovate-lanceolate, rounded at the apex, ± reflexed at the apex only, glabrous.
Capsule c. 13 mm. long, green, 3-sided, glabrous, prominently reticulate, coriaceous, few-seeded.
Flowers erect or secund, pedicellate; pedicels 4–6 (8) mm. long, orange, pubescent.
Ovary ± ovoid, obscurely 3-lobed, glabrous, style 2–5 times as long as the ovary.
Bracts and bracteoles ovate, cucullate, longitudinally ribbed, persistent.
