Characteristics

Shrub or small tree to 4 m. tall, though generally less; branches usually glabrous.. Leaf-lamina ± elliptic to elliptic-oblanceolate or oblong-obovate, (5–)7–26 cm. long, (1.5–)2.8–9.2(–10.7) cm. wide, the base cuneate to subrounded, the apex acuminate, acute to subobtuse, glabrous or occasionally with a few hairs on the midrib beneath, margin subentire to obscurely crenate-serrate, lateral veins 5–9 pairs; petiole 6–30 mm. long, glabrous.. Inflorescence a slender terminal, occasionally lateral, thyrse, the rachis 4.5–7(–10) cm. long, usually puberulous or finely pubescent; flowers yellow, yellowish green or cream; bracts and bracteoles triangular-ovate, ± 1mm. long, eventually falling; peduncle 3–6 mm. long, pubescent or puberulous; pedicels 1–2 mm. long, pubescent or puberulous.. Sepals ovate, 1.5–2.5 mm. long, finely pubescent usually, margin ciliate.. Petals oval, 3–3.8 mm. long, pubescent or puberulous on the outside, margin ciliate.. Stamens 3–3.25 mm. long, the filaments fused for a part or all of their length into a tube with a free, often rather uneven or toothed, margin; connective-appendage ovate-elliptic, almost twice as long as the anther, margin subentire; thecal appendages 1, subentire to bilobed, or 2..
