Characteristics

Plants 50-150(-200) mm high. Corm ovoid, 10-20 mm diam., obliquely pointed with small basal ridge, tunics woody or papery, split into fine teeth below. Stem short, subterranean. Leaves 3 to 8, all basal, subterete, narrowly 4-grooved, 1-2 mm diam. Peduncles up to 4, subterete, erect in fruit; outer bracts green or greenish with narrow, colourless membranous margins, 17-25 mm long, finely striate (5 or 6 veins/mm), inner bracts with wide, colourless membranous margins. Flowers pink to white with yellow cup, outer tepals pale green with purple feathering on reverse; perianth tube funnel-shaped, 5-7 mm long; tepals oblanceolate to elliptic, 18-30 x 6-12 mm. Filaments ± included in cup, 4-10 mm long, pilose basally, orange-yellow; anthers (5-)6-8 mm long, yellow. Style dividing below anther apices, branches 2-3 mm long, shortly divided. Capsules oblong, 8-10 mm long.

Leaves basal, filiform to compressed cylindrical, 100-350 x 1-2 mm, grooves narrow. Peduncles 50-180 mm long. Stamens inserted, erect; filaments 4-10 mm long, pilose in lower half, orange-yellow; anthers 6-8 mm long, golden-yellow. Flowering time Apr.-Oct. Capsule on erect peduncles.
