Characteristics

Plants 50-100 mm high, growing in clumps. Corm globose, 10-15 mm diam., obliquely rounded below, tunics woody, split into bent, grooved teeth below, with fibrous neck 20-40 mm long. Stem subterranean. Leaves 7 to 9, all evidently basal, terete, narrowly 4-grooved, 1.0-1.5 mm diam. Peduncles up to 4, semi-terete, short and stout, suberect in fruit; outer bracts pale and membranous or subherbaceous in centre, with broad, brown-flecked membranous margins and apex, 10-12 mm long, inner bracts pale and membranous, with broad, brown-flecked membranous margins. Flowers pale canary-yellow with golden-yellow cup, outer tepals with dark median blotch or transverse zone in throat and feathered with maroon on reverse, inner tepals with narrow brownish maroon median line and diffuse transverse zone in throat; perianth tube funnel-shaped, ± 4 mm long; tepals oblanceolate, ± 20 x 7 mm. Filaments ± 6 mm long, pilose basally, yellow; anthers 2.5-3.0 mm long, yellow. Style dividing below anther apices, branches 1.5-2.0 mm long, deeply divided. Capsules subglobose, ± 8 mm long.
