Characteristics

Plants 50-200(-300) mm high. Corm globose, obliquely flattened with crescent-shaped basal ridge as wide as or slightly wider than corm, 5-10 mm diam., tunics splitting into fine, parallel fibrils along ridge. Stem short or exserted up to 200 mm. Leaves 3 or 4, lower 2 basal, filiform to terete, narrowly 4-grooved, 0.5-1.5 mm diam. Peduncles up to 4, semiterete, up to 40 mm long, suberect in fruit; outer bracts green with narrow membranous margins, 13-30 mm long, lightly striate (5 or 6 veins/mm), conduplicate, inner bracts with narrow, unmarked membranous margins widening toward base. Flowers buttercup-yellow, sometimes with few short dark veins in cup, outer tepals lime-green on reverse with reddish brown flecks along margins; perianth tube funnel-shaped, 4-5 mm long; tepals ± obtuse, outer elliptic, inner slightly wider and oblanceolate, 18-27 x 4-9 mm. Filaments 6-7 mm long, pilose toward base, yellow; anthers 4-6 mm long, yellow. Style dividing near anther apices, branches ± 2 mm long, divided halfway. Capsules shortly cylindric, 10-18 mm long.

Plants 150-300 mm long. Corm with a small crescent-shaped basal ridge. Stem short or up to 160 mm long. Basal leaves 2, filiform, 150-300 x 1-1.5 mm, suberect, grooves narrow. Inner bract largely green, with colourless membranous margins and submembranous base. Flowers 25-35 mm long, bright golden-yellow, with some dark veins in the cup. Perianth tube 4-5 mm long; segments elliptical, mostly obtuse, 18-27 x 5-9 mm, outer segments slightly longer than the inner, green on the backs, with brown markings along the margins. Filaments 6-7 mm, minutely pilose almost to the tops; anthers 4-6 mm long, golden-yellow. Style 10-12 mm; stigmas at or above the anther tips. Capsules cylindrical, on suberect peduncles.
