Characteristics

Plants 50-150(-200) mm high. Corm globose, obliquely flattened toward base with crescent-shaped basal ridge ± as wide as corm, 8-20 mm diam., tunics splitting into fine parallel fibrils along ridge. Stem usually aerial, exserted up to 200 mm. Leaves 3 to 5, lowermost 2 basal when stem exserted, terete or filiform and narrowly 4-grooved, 0.5-1.0 mm diam. Peduncles up to 3, up to 60 mm long, semiterete, arcuate in fruit; outer bracts green with narrow membranous margins, 15-30 mm long, lightly striate (5 or 6 veins/mm), inner bracts with broad, colourless membranous margins. Flowers white or rarely pale lilac with darker veins and buff-or cream-coloured cup, outer tepals irregularly streaked with purple or green on reverse, lightly scented; perianth tube funnel-shaped, 5-8 mm long; tepals elliptic or narrowly oblanceolate-acuminate, (20-)25-35 x 7-11 mm. Filaments 6-7 mm long, pilose basally, white; anthers 12-15 mm long, widely sagittate below, connective attenuate and produced 2.5-6.0 mm beyond thecae, white. Style dividing near middle of anthers, branches 2-3 mm long, divided halfway. Capsules ellipsoid, up to 10 mm long.
More
Plants 150-400 mm long. Corm with a crescent-shaped basal ridge. Stem 20-250 mm long, usually extended above-ground, sometimes flexuose. Basal leaves 2, filiform, 150-400 x 0.5-1 mm, grooves very narrow. Inner bract green, with colourless membranous margins. Flowers 30-45 mm long, white, cup brownish or off-white, outer perianth segments on the backs with irregular pink or purplish brown and green markings. Perianth tube 5-8 mm long; segments elliptical (outer) and oblanceolate (inner), 25-35 x 7-11 mm. Filaments 6-7 mm; anthers about twice as long as the filaments, with attenuate connectives elongated 2.5-6 mm above the thecae. Style 12-16 mm; stigmas about halfway up the anthers. Capsules ellipsoidal on arcuate peduncles.
Cormous geophyte, up to 250 mm tall, corm with a crescent-shaped basal ridge. Leaves 3-5, only 2 basal, ± terete. Flowers white, streaked with pale blue-lilac, anthers with white, attenuate connectives extending up to 6 mm beyond thecae; outer bracts with narrow and inner with wide membranous margins.
