Characteristics

Plants 50-100 mm high. Corm bell-shaped with flat base and pronounced circular basal rim, 5-10 mm diam., tunics woody, basal rim irregularly fringed. Stem short, subterranean or exserted up to 40 mm. Leaves 3 to 6, lower 2 basal, narrowly 4-grooved, 0.5-1.0 mm diam. Peduncles up to 4, hemiterete, erect fruit; outer bracts green with narrow, colourless membranous margins, 7-15 mm long, finely striate (4 or 5 veins/mm), inner bracts with narrow, colourless membranous margins. Flowers pale pink or salmon-pink, sometimes with red lines in throat, with yellow cup, outer tepals darker on reverse; perianth tube funnel-shaped, ± 3 mm long; tepals elliptic, 12-18 x 3-5 mm. Filaments 3-5 mm long, pilose in lower part; anthers 2-4 mm long, yellow. Style dividing at anther apices, branches divided. Capsules oblong, 6-8 mm long.
